Beef puttu
BEEF PUTTU
Ingredients
- Beef -500g
- Turmeric powder- 1 tsp.
- Pepper powder- ½ tsp.
- Coconut oil-2 tbsp.
- Onion finely chopped-1 (small)
- Ginger paste-1 tsp
- Garlic paste- 1tsp
- Green chili chopped- 1
- Curry leaves finely chopped -2 sprigs
- Coriander powder -1 tsp.
- Chili powder- 1 tsp.
- Garam masala powder- ½ tsp.
- Tomato paste – 2tsp.
- Rice powder-2 cups
- Grated coconut – ½ cup
- Salt and water as needed
Method
- Wet the rice flour using enough salt, grated coconut and
water and keep aside.
- Pressure cook beef with enough salt, turmeric powder, pepper
powder and just enough water(about ¾ th cup water to cook the beef). When it
cools down shred it using a grinder.
- Heat oil in a wok and add onion. Saute it for 3 minutes and add ginger garlic
paste, stir till the onion turns golden brown.
- Now add all the powdered spices, green chili and stir for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the shredded beef, chopped curry leaves and tomato paste and stir well and
switch off the stove.
- Pulse the rice flour in a grinder. Fill the puttu maker with the beef masala and rice
flour alternately, starting and ending with the beef masala. Steam it for two to three minutes. Serve hot with any gravy
of your choice.
