Pepper chicken recipe


Ingredients


  • Chicken cleaned and cut into medium sized pieces- 1 kg
  • Onion ( large) sliced thinely - 2
  • Ginger chopped - 2 tsp.
  • Garlic chopped - 2 tsp.
  • Kashmiri chili powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • Malabar tamarind soaked in water- 3 small pieces
  • Coconut oil- 1 tbsp.
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves and red chilies for garnish


Method


  • Grind ginger, garlic , chili powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and enough salt into a fine paste. You can use  half a cup of water after grinding it for 30 seconds.
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with the ground masala and keep aside for half an hour.
  • Meanwhile Microwave the sliced onion for 5 minutes. Heat oil in a pan, add the cooked onions and saute till light brown.
  • Add the chicken pieces and malabar tamarind and cook the chicken.
  • Remove the tamarind pieces add curry leaves and red chilies and dry roast it till the masalas are well coated on the chicken pieces and it deepens its color.
  • Transfer it to a serving plate and enjoy!
