Apple pie


This apple pie has a buttery flavored crisp and flaky crust with a delicious cinnamon flavored apple filling. It doesn’t have a lot of ingredients in it. The crust can be made using a food processor.

Ingredients


For the pie crust


All-purpose flour – 2 ½ cups
Cold unsalted butter- 200 gms (cut into small cubes)
Salt – 1 tsp.
Granulated sugar – 2 tbsp.
Chilled water – ¼ cups+ 2 to 3 tbsp.

Milk -1 tbsp.


For the apple filling


Apples (peeled and cut into small cubes)- 6
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.
Light brown sugar – ¼ cups
Granulated sugar – ¼ cups
Cinnamon sticks- 3 (an inch long)
Butter – 2 tbsp.
Salt – a pinch
Corn flour – 1 tbsp.

Method


Take the flour in a food processor and add salt and sugar process it for 30 seconds until well combined.
Add the butter cubes and process it till u get a bread crumbs textured mixture.
Slowly add ¼ cup chilled water and process it and then add 2 to 3 table spoons of additional chilled water to get a dough which when pressed between the thumb and forefinger stick together.
Bring it unto a working space and Just bring the dough together (do not knead it.)
Divide the dough into two third and one third and wrap it with cling films separately.
Refrigerate it for an hour.
During this time, you can start making the filling.
Mix lemon juice on the apple pieces so that it won’t get brown and gives a little tangy flavor.
Heat butter in a sauce pan, add the apple pieces along with the sugar, salt, cinnamon sticks and stir it for 5 to 6 minutes.
The apple starts sweating, strain the juice and caramelize it in a different pan.
Bring the apples back to the pan add corn flour and stir it till the apples are coated with the corn flour and it is thickened. Pour the caramelized syrup on the apples and stir well.
Remove the cinnamon sticks and filling will be ready to use.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
After an hour take out the dough and roll both the dough separately.
Transfer the bigger dough on to a ten-inch pie dish, shape it to fit the dish and trim the excess dough.
Now evenly fill it with the apple filling.
Cut the smaller dough into strips and decorate the apple pie and brush it with milk or beaten egg. 
Bake it in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
After 15 minutes the pie is ready to be served.
