Spongy bhatura

 
This Punjabi fried bread is soft and spongy as the name indicates. It goes well with chole (chick pea’s curry)


Ingredients

·         All purpose flour-1/2 kg

·         Butter -2tsp.

·         Curd-1/2 cup

·         Sugar -1tbs.

·         Soda bicarbonate-a pinch

·         Salt to taste

·         Egg -1

·         Luke warm milk-1/4 cup

·         Yeast -1/2tsp.

·         Sugar-1tbsp.

Method

·         Dissolve sugar in luke warm milk and add yeast and set it aside for half an hour to ferment.

·         Add butter to the flour and mix it well.

·         Mix together egg, curd, 1table spoon of sugar, salt and, soda bicarbonate.

·         Add the egg mixture, the flour mixture and the fermented yeast and knead well to a soft texture (add little more milk if needed).

·         Keep the dough for 4 hours and it will increase the volume to double.

·         Take lemon sized balls out of the dough and roll into six inch diameter circles.

·         Deep fry to light brown bhaturas and serve hot with chole or butter chicken.

Got 17 bhuturas from the given amount.
