Oats rava idli




For this idli you don’t have to make the batter ahead and keep for fermenting. It is an instant healthy idli which you can have it with any chutney of your choice.

Ingredients


  • Whole grain oats- 1 cup

  • Roasted rava – ½ cup

  • Curd – ½ cup

  • Water – 1 ¼ cup

  • Baking soda-1/2 tsp.

  • Asafoetida - a pinch

  • Carrot (grated) – 1(medium size)

  • Chopped coriander leaves- 2 tbsp.

  • Oil -2 tsp.

  • Mustard seeds- ½ tsp.

  • Chana dal – 1 tsp

  • Green chilies chopped-2

  • Ginger chopped- 1 tsp.

  • Salt to taste


Method


  • Dry roast the oats for 2 minutes on a thick bottom pan and when it is cooled, powder it.

  • Mix the powdered oats with the rava and grated carrots.

  • Heat oil in a pan and pop mustard seeds, add chana dal and stir till it changes the color to light brown.

  • Add green chilies and ginger sauté for a couple of minutes and add this to the oats rava mix.

  • Add curd, water, asafoetida, baking soda and salt and mix well to a idli batter consistency (add more water if needed by adding couple of tablespoons at a time).
  • Finally add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

  • Grease an idli mold with oil and pour two tablespoons of the batter in each and steam cook it till done.

  • Serve it with chutney of your choice.

Note: - the given amount makes 12 medium sized idlis.
