Prawn masala
 

Prawn masala is an easy, simple and delicious dish packed with flavors. It can be used either as a starter or as a side dish.  This dish is a sure crowd pleaser.

Ingredients

 

·         Prawns - 1/2 kg (cleaned)

·         Turmeric- 1/2 tsp.

·         Tomato  - 1 no(cut into small pieces)

·         Salt  - to taste

·         Coconut oil or sunflower oil - 1/4 cup

·         Fresh coconut pieces - 3 tbsp.

·         Garlic  - 5 -6 pieces

·         Eastern chili powder - 2 tbsp.

·         Freshly ground pepper powder - 1-2 tsp.

 

For garnishing and mixing

 

·         Onion  ( medium sized) - 1 no

·         Greenchillies  - 5 -6 no’s

·         Curry leaves  - 3 stalk

 

Method

 

·         Cook the prawn along with ingredients no1in a low flame. :- No need to add water, as the prawn get cooked it will give out water)

·         Let the water gets evaporated completely.

·         Cut the onion thinly and lengthwise.

·         Microwave it for 1-2 min.

·         Add oil in a nonstick pan and sauté the onion till it get golden brown.

·         Set it aside.

·         Add the green chilies and curry leaves and sauté it for 1-2 minutes.

·         When the color turns brighter set it aside along with the onion.

·         In the same oil add the coconut pieces till it becomes light brown.

·         Add garlic and sauté for 2 min and add the chili powder. :-Make sure that the pan is on a low flame so that the powder will not get burnt.  Sauté it for another 2-3 min.

·         Add the cooked prawns and sauté it for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.

·         Add freshly ground pepper powder and sauté for another 1 minute.

·         Switch off the flame and mix half of the onions green chilies and curry leaves.

·         Remove it in a serving dish and garnish it with the remaining onion green chilies and curry leaves.

·         Enjoy!!
